WHAT'S GOING ON AT OAKPARK

We’re pleased to provide you with a wide range of activities, both on-site and throughout the community. Our full-time Activities Manager provides a wide range of planned group outings, from grocery store shopping to theatre shows. All special outings such as picnics, sightseeing tours, and boat trips include full transportation on our accessible bus. Our in-house activities include arts and crafts, kitchen demonstrations, screenings in the movie theatre and gatherings in the main piano lounge.

I was talking to my Mom today at about 3:25 p.m. and all of a sudden she had to run because she remembered they had the bean bag toss at 3:30 p.m. So she had to hang up and put her lipstick on! Can you believe it?! Music to my ears! The reason I chose Oak Park was because of the friendly and very caring atmosphere by both of staff and the residents. As you walk into the entrance of Oak Park, you can see all the smiling faces and people laughing and talking together Even during the Covid outbreak, we all felt safe and well cared for. My husband has been at Oak Park in Memory Care for six months. As I visit almost every day, I see quite a bit of the care given. The nurses were quick to respond when there was a medical issue with my husband. The PSWs show care and concern for the residents. My husband enjoys taking part in the activities which are appropriate and run by an enthusiastic activity director. My family and I feel quite fortunate to have their father and my husband where his needs are met with graciousness.

I would like to tell people that if you are looking for a Home, Oakpark is the perfect place. Personally, I enjoy that staff always has a smile, coffee, tea and lovely treats at all times in the main lounge. I really enjoy the social aspect at which to time I myself dress for our Victorian tea, Hat and all! I have made many friends and enjoy making new friendship with folks surprisingly from world flung places. I have met people from British Columbia all the way to the Sudan and Singapore.

When she first arrived, she told us she was not going to do any of the activities and especially not in the morning. But, thanks to Leah who has encouraged her to try various activities, she is now participating in many activities and on occasion up to three activities in one day! Pretty amazing for someone who turns 100 in January. We know that Leah has been instrumental in getting her involved and Esther now wanders down on her own and tells us later in the day what she has participate in.
